5 Most Common Issues Found in Home Inspections

Home inspections can be stressful, and it is easy to panic when you discover that your dream home has a few issues. Traditional homes and modular homes must undergo inspection. While every home inspection is different, I would like to share some of the most common issues found in home inspections (and how to fix them).

Bad Wiring

If you find any of these issues in your home, call an electrician to fix them immediately. This is especially important if you’re purchasing a house and want to make sure that all the wiring is up to code and meets safety standards. Your inspector will let you know about these things during their inspection and can help guide you on what repairs the house needs so that everything works safely for you and your family!

Improper Plumbing

The average homeowner is not well versed in the complexities of plumbing and may think that it’s just a matter of turning on a faucet or flushing a toilet. While this may be true for most of us, there are still plenty of problems that can arise with your pipes that require prompt attention from an experienced professional.

The most common issue we find during inspections is leaking pipes—and most often, these leaks can lead to serious health and safety concerns if left unchecked. Suppose you start noticing moist spots around your house or even unexplained drips from under sinks or appliances like washing machines. In that case, you should immediately contact a plumber who will come out and assess the problem.

Another frequent problem is clogs: if there is trouble getting water flowing, then the chances are good that there’s an obstruction somewhere in your system.

Water Damage

Water damage is one of the most common issues found in home inspections. Water damage can be caused by a leaky roof, pipe, appliance, or even a leaky toilet. If you see any signs of water damage, it is important to act quickly. Leaving the issue unaddressed can cause more costly repairs in the future and even mold growth, which could affect your health and your family’s health.

Roof Damage

The roof is one of the most crucial parts of your home and protects everything from the elements. Damage to the roof can be caused by heavy rain, snow, and ice, wind damage, tree branches falling on the roof, or even hail.

Make sure that the roof is in quality condition. Then, plan roof maintenance that will help you keep it in good condition for years to come so that you don’t have to worry about replacing it any time soon!

Poor Foundation

Foundation issues can be a detrimental problem found in home inspections. The purpose of your home’s foundation is to support all the weight above it. Thus, even small cracks in a foundation can lead to major structural problems if not addressed quickly.

The foundation problems can be caused by several factors, including water and soil damage, termites, and earthquakes.
