Dominican Republic Tourism Rising – Along With Real Estate Interest

Dominican Republic tourism rising – along with real estate interest

Tourism figures in the Dominican Republic are rising rapidly – and when tourism rises, so does interest in real estate.

Just as in other countries, tourism has been rocked by COVID-19. However, now DR is seeing strong growth in the numbers of visitors.

From January-October 2021, there were 2.1 million arrivals by air. Two-thirds of whom were foreign visitors, according to the latest Dominican Republic tourism figures from the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. October saw a rise of more than 50% over the previous month to 70,901.

The numbers are impressive. Especially bearing in mind that the Dominican Republic kept its borders closed due to COVID-19 from mid-March until the end of June.

Barbara Warren, Director International Business Development for luxury developer Noval Properties, explains, “Seeing that our international airports reopened in July, the bounce-back in tourism has been notable. In the same way, Noval Properties has seen a strong increase in interest in our luxury real estate over the last few months.

“We expect this to continue as we head into the ‘snowbird season’ when buyers from Canada, Northern US states, Europe  and others who  look to escape freezing winters and buy a luxury home for a new life, retirement, holidays or as an investment option to generate rental income.

The top three arrivals are visitors from the United States. Which accounted for more than half of the October arrivals, Canada and USA. The percentage of tourists from South America and the Caribbean are among those rising.

The most popular airports are Punta Cana, Las Américas and La Isabela. In Punta Cana, in the first 25 days of October 2020, there were 21,486 foreign tourists. This is 10,291 up on September, a rise of 92%.

What’s To Blame For The Increase?

The confidence of the tourism sector is illustrated by the opening of the new Radisson Blu Resort and Residence Punta Cana in November.

Tourists now entering or leaving the Dominican Republic fill out an electronic form, which speeds processing.

Once tourists taste life at the chic beach town, they want to return to Punta Cana again or live there permanently. Noval Properties offers a choice of top-class developments that offer attractive lifestyle and rental options.

Among popular Noval Properties developments in Punta Cana are  Lake Village  and Blue Lake , at the prestigious Cocotal Golf & Country Club condo community.

So arrive as a tourist and leave as an owner. Its easier than you think. Own your sanctuary as you relax and enjoy top-class amenities. Including lakefront and golf living, an infinity pool with lake view and a private beach. Plus exclusive access to a hotel gym, pools and sports facilities. Act now to secure one of the last three-bedroomed prime properties from US$380,000. Phone +1 809 8535790 or email bwarren@novalproperties.com.
