Best Fall Activities in RI

While everyone is sad to see the summer end, the fall season offers many fun activities and events that you can take part in with family and friends. The small state of Rhode Island is definitely at its tourist-peak in the summer months, however, there is a lot to do in the fall season that is worth checking out. If you are looking to stay festive leading up to Halloween weekend, and you are in the Rhode Island area, here are some of our favorite fall activities that you should add to your bucket list for this season:

  • Jack O Lantern Spectacular in Providence, Rhode Island. At the Roger Williams Park Zoo, the Jack O Lantern Spectacular is very widely known in Rhode Island and is a must-see for both adults and kids! From October 3 – November 3, you can view a wide variety of uniquely carved and lit up pumpkins. Not to mention, there are several family nights that are planned, including fairy tale nights, video game nights and super hero nights.
  • Apple and pumpkin picking. No matter where you are, the fall season calls for some apple and pumpkin picking! Check out Dame Farm and Orchards in Johnston, Rhode Island, or Jaswell’s Farm in Smithfield, Rhode Island, where you can finish off the day with delicious apple cider donuts!
  • Wine tastings. For the adults, the fall season is a beautiful time to visit some stunning wineries and vineyards in the state. Check out Newport Vineyards or Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyard for some beautiful views and delicious wine.
  • 32nd Annual Apple Festival in Johnston, Rhode Island. Located at the Johnston Memorial Park, the 32nd Annual Apple Festival takes place on September 14th and 15th and is a great way to get in the festive fall mood. Head to their website to sign up for the pie baking contest!
