Chelo’s Hometown Bar & Grille is the largest family-owned restaurant company that is in Rhode Island. Since 1955, Chelo’s Hometown Bar & Grille has opened up 8 different locations throughout the state, in Cranston, East Providence, Providence, Rumford, Smithfield, Woonsocket, Warwick and a waterfront location.
Chelo’s was built on a reputation for fresh food, terrific service, and a great value, and has earned its iconic reputation in the state’s restaurant scene with award-winning food and service recognitions, many of which are featured on their menu.
Chelo’s has been using the same recipe since 1955 with fresh food that is made every day of the week at their Commissary in Warwick. Chelo’s delivers famous foods throughout the state to each location every day, providing the freshest, highest quality foods to their guests.
Chelo’s is also a great location for private events, featuring a successful Banquets and Catering Division, where they offer the same qualities that made them a Rhode Island legend! Whether the event is a wedding, baby shower, birthday, or backyard BBQ, you can count on Chelo’s to make your event special and memorable!
Check out some of my favorite dishes and drinks from Chelo’s and plan your trip to one of Rhode Island’s most famous restaurants for the past 66 years!
THE BEST BITES.
To start, be sure to try the Philly Bao Bun or the Ultimate Nachos.
The Philly Bao Bun is served with grilled shaved steak, sauteed onions and peppers with melted American cheese stuffed into a fluffy Korean bao bun and drizzled with garlic aioli and scallions.
The Ultimate Nachos are a must-try, served with crispy tortilla chips with melted cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, topped with homemade chili an dressed with fresh lettuce, diced red tomatoes, banana pepper rings and sliced black olives, served with red salsa and sour cream.
If you are in the mood for a salad and you love food with an extra kick, you cannot miss out on the Jalapeno Shrimp Caesar Salad, mixed with blackened shrimp served over fresh cut romaine lettuce, tossed in a new Jalapeno Caesar dressing with fire roasted corn, cotija cheese, and crispy fried jalapenos. And, if you are not a shrimp lover, you can easily swap out with grilled chicken, grilled salmon, or steak tips!
For entrees, I love the Summer Harvest Pasta, Baked Scrod, as well as the Fire Roasted Chicken Wrap.
The Summer Harvest Pasta is a seasonal favorite, served with imported penne pasta tossed in a lemon olive oil sauce with blistered cherry tomatoes, asparagus, and zucchini, and topped with fresh chopped parsley and almonds.
The Baked Scrod is served with flaky pure white fish that is seasoned with butter, wine, and herbs, and topped with cracker crumbs.
And the Fire Roasted Chicken Wrap is served with blackened chicken breast with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mozzarella cheese and Chelo’s very own bistro sauce, all wrapped in a garlic herb tortilla.
THE SEASIDE SIPS.
For cocktails, you truly cannot go wrong with any of the drinks Chelo’s has to offer!
My favorites include the Blue Freeze Pop, Peach Cosmo, Mango Margarita, as well as the Butterscotch Mudslide.
The Blue Freeze Pop is paired with lemonade Hiram Walker Blue Curacao and UV Blue Raspberry Vodka, and is the perfect, refreshing summer drink.
The Peach Cosmo is an invigorating mix of Ketel One Vodka, Massenez Crème de Peche, cranberry juice, and sour mix.
And the Butterscotch Mudslide is perfect for those with a sweet tooth – a creamy combination of Three Olives Vanilla Vodka, Irish Cream, Hiram Walker Butterscotch Schnappe, and vanilla.
