6 Ways To Decorate Your Mantel for the Fall Season

6 Ways To Decorate Your Mantel for the Fall Season

Have you been looking for ways to make the interior of your home feel more festive? A great way to add in some extra fall décor is by decorating your mantel, which is a central focal point that is perfect for any seasonal display. Not only will decorating your mantel for the fall season instantly elevate the atmosphere of your living space, but it will also be a fun and creative project for you and your family.

Here are some tips on how you can create the most beautiful fall display for your mantel this season.

Decorate Your Mantel for the Fall Season

1 – Remove current items and clean your mantel.

First, remove any items that you have on your mantel and give it a deep clean so that you can ensure you are starting from a clean slate. This will help to give you a fresh, new perspective on what it is that you are looking to achieve and will help you to easily visualize what your fall décor will look like on your mantel.

2 – Figure out what you want your theme to be.

Next, figure out what kind of theme you are looking for, since there are many different ways to get festive for the fall season! Are you looking to keep the décor neutral? Focus on pumpkins and deeper, bolder colors? Or perhaps you are looking to create a mantel that is fully Halloween themed. Some common themes can include going with a traditional display, modern, or sticking with a farmhouse fall look. It is important that you decide on a central theme so that you can create a cohesive and visually appealing display.

3 – Know the focal point of the mantel.

Every mantel needs a focal point, or something larger that ties all the décor together nicely. A good focal point to use could be something such as a mirror, a fall-themed print, a large floral bouquet, or a large piece of artwork. This focal point should stick to your theme as it will help to set the tone for the entire display on your mantel.

4 – Embrace fall colors and natural elements.

Once you decide on your theme, you will likely have an idea of what kind of color scheme you would like to go with. Be sure to incorporate some fall colors into your color scheme so that you can truly evoke the feeling of fall. Some colors to consider include muted greens, deep oranges, warm reds, and rustic browns.

You can also incorporate these colors throughout the room as well to ensure that the mantel is complementing the rest of the area. In terms of natural elements, bring in the outdoors in places where you can, such as using pumpkins, pinecones, gourds, and faux autumn leaves. These elements can be arranged in a bowl or basket or scattered throughout the mantel.

5 – Remember to personalize.

When decorating, be sure to personalize your mantel as well so that it can truly be uniquely yours. Some ways to personalize your display can include family photos that are in fall-themed frames, or other decorative items that you and your family have that hold sentimental value and fit the overall vibe. Personalizing your mantel is a great way to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, and truly make your house a home!

6 – Get creative with textures and layering.

To add some interest and depth to your mantel, do not be afraid to get creative with trying out different textures and layering items! There are tons of different textures that can help to make your décor look and feel richer, such as glass, burlap, twine, or wood if you are going for the farmhouse look! In terms of layering, use the different textures to add some dimension, by incorporating wreaths, candles, and smaller decorative pieces.
