Mums are perfect for the fall – it is the time that they open their flowers, temperatures drop down and summer comes to an end. It is good to have some late bloomers like mums in your garden so that you can enjoy them for longer. If you are looking to have mums outside, you can use beds or containers and fill them with mums of all different shapes and sizes. Some of the most popular color mums that people will incorporate into their décor or garden for fall include red, yellow, purple, pink or white.
Mums in the garden grow best in cooler weather, which is why they are a widely chosen flower for the fall season. If you are looking to plant some, pick out plants that have buds beginning to open – they will flower for weeks and weeks and you can enjoy throughout the whole duration of the fall. It is important, however, to know your color scheme goals for your garden. Most gardeners will choose one or two colors of mums to incorporate, so the garden does not look to overwhelming. Reds and oranges can look nice on a porch surrounded by pumpkins, gourds and hay! When planting, be sure to plant in an area where the mums will get at least six hours of sunlight a day, and do not forget to water them.
