Home Upgrades That Increase Your Home’s Value

Home Upgrades That Increase Your Home's Value

That to-do list isn’t getting any shorter, especially if you’re planning on selling your home soon. For those of you preparing to sell your home, you’ll obviously want to sell your home for as much money as possible. That said, you need to pick and choose your home projects appropriately. Don’t waste your time with little projects that buyers don’t actually care about. Of course, if you have a hole in your roof or a leaky basement, you should probably take care of that. We put together a guide including some home upgrades that increase your home’s value for your reference. Read on if you’d like to learn more.

Update your kitchen

When a buyer walks into a home they’re interested in, there are a few rooms in the home that can make or break their buying decision. One such room—and probably the most important space—is the kitchen. Nobody wants to buy a house that has filthy cabinets and outdated appliances. Now, don’t worry—we’re not saying you need to completely revamp your kitchen. You should, however, replace old appliances and reface your cabinets. If your cabinets are in relatively good shape, you could paint the cabinets and give your kitchen a new look. Buyers will recognize your hard work.

Freshen up the walls

Whether you want to do it yourself or hire this service out, you should paint your walls before listing your home. Now, there’s a catch; don’t use some crazy color. You want to sell the house and boost its value, remember? If you’re not good with colors, go to your local hardware store and ask the workers what colors are popular these days. When in doubt, go for a light gray or plain white.

Install new flooring

Nobody wants to buy a house with gross flooring. If you still have plush carpeting from the 60s, you’ve got your work cut out for you. Most people don’t want carpeting anymore; they want hardwood. We know that choosing hardwood flooring is hard, but here’s a pro tip—paint the walls before replacing your floor. By painting first, you won’t have to use so many drop cloths, and you can pick a hardwood floor that suits your home’s color scheme more.

Of course, home upgrades and renovations get expensive quickly, so don’t feel discouraged if it takes you a few years to complete everything you want. There are so many other home upgrades that increase your home’s value. Our list only scratched the surface, but we know you’ll get a great return on investment.
