Storage Ideas for an Organized Home

Storage Ideas for an Organized Home

It’s one of the great struggles of life—keeping your home organized. You clean for hours, and just when you think you’ve finally done it, you open one of your cabinets or drawers to discover an unorganized mess. What’s a person to do? If this sounds like you, try some of these storage ideas for an organized home.

Organize Your Drawers

We all have those drawers that we’re always afraid to open. Whether it’s the junk drawer in your kitchen or your dresser drawers, it’s never a bad idea to organize. Use drawer dividers to keep different types of items separated and easily accessible in your drawers. Once you’re done, they’ll look much nicer and you’ll be able to quickly find what you need.

Use Trays and Dishes

No matter how much you organize, there will always be those miscellaneous items that don’t really have a place. Try using trays and dishes around the house as a place to put these items. You can put one on your beside table for jewelry and accessories, one by the front door for keys, and another on the coffee table for books and magazines.

Utilize Vertical Space

Many people forget about their vertical space while organizing, but using it helps you make the best of your space. Hang pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils in an empty space on your kitchen wall for storage and decoration. Try using an over-the-door shoe hanger if you’ve run out of space in your closet. Install a pegboard on your wall for more storage. There are many ways to use vertical space, so come up with your own creative ideas!

Add Some Furniture

If you find you really need some additional out-of-sight storage, consider buying furniture that doubles as storage space. A storage bench or stool will go nicely in your kitchen or living room, and objects can be stored inside them. Adding a sideboard to your dining room will contribute to the décor of the room and give you more space to store and display your china collection and other dishware. And of course, shelves can be added to any room and are incredibly versatile in terms of decoration and storage.

Hopefully, these storage ideas for an organized home have you inspired. Try one of them or come up with other creative ways to address any organizational issues you see within your home. Organizing your home will give you a sense of accomplishment and make it a more comfortable place to spend your time.
