The Reef, Newport, Rhode Island

The Reef Igloo dining

The Reef is the perfect spot in Newport, Rhode Island to enjoy panoramic ocean front views as well as internationally inspired cuisine. The Reef is situated dockside in Newport Harbor and is inspired by the travels of sailors to ports around the world, with a drink selection to suit every taste.

The Reef believes that every day can be a good one when you are surrounded by the sights, sounds, and flavors of the sea – and they are not wrong!

The Reef Outdoor Igloos

Are you worried about soaking in the gorgeous views during the chilly winter months? The Reef has you covered. Their iconic Igloo Village is back! Head to The Reef to enjoy their heated, themed igloos that are styled by Exquisite Events, while indulging in their new winter menu as well as their full cocktail and wine menu. Each igloo can accommodate up to 8 guests and requires a $100 rental fee for use of the igloo for 2 hours and 20 minutes. To reserve an igloo, you can learn more here.

THE BEST BITES.

The Reef Newport Rhode Island Best Bites (1)

To start at The Reef, order the Italian Butter Beans and Escarole, Truffled Burrata, or the Korean BBQ. The Italian Butter Beans and Escarole is served with pancetta, shallots, tomato, as well as roasted garlic crostini.

If you are a burrata lover, the Truffled Burrata will blow your taste buds away. The Truffled Burrata is made with prosciutto, baby arugula, crostini, aged balsamic, as well as extra virgin olive oil.

And, the Korean BBQ comes with crispy pork belly, soba noodles, peppers, snow peas, scallions, kimchee, as well as sesame soy vinaigrette.

For entrees, you cannot go wrong with the Lobster a la Vodka, Grilled Pork Chop, or the Braised Short Ribs. The Lobster a la Vodka is the dream dish for seafood lovers, served with rigatoni, baby spinach, roasted mushrooms, cream, as well as marinara.

The Grilled Pork Chop is savory and cooked to perfection, served with root vegetable mashed, goat cheese, chives, Swiss chard, as well as mustard jus.

And the Braised Short Ribs is the perfect dish for a chilly day, served with potato, carrot, parsnip, savoy cabbage, Cipollini onion, and a Guinness demi-glace.

You can also visit The Reef for brunch, and there is truly an option for everyone! If you are dining for brunch, order the Breakfast Burger, Biscuits in Gravy, or the Shrimp and Grits.

The Breakfast Burger is served on a croissant with angus beef, fried egg, bacon, avocado, brown sugar maple aioli (YUM!), cheddar cheese, and comes with home fries.

The Biscuits in Gravy is served with sausage gravy, ham hocks, poached egg, as well as mixed baby field greens.

And the Shrimp and Grits is to die for, served with heirloom grits and a creole sauce.

When it comes to cocktails at The Reef, you are guaranteed to be blown away. Some of my favorite cocktails served at The Reef include the Devil in the Deep Blue, Hook Line & Sinker, Café-Tini, as well as the Toasty Toddy.

The Devil in the Deep Blue cocktail is mixed with Hotel California tequila Blanco, Chambord, ginger beer, agave, and cinnamon.

For rum lovers, the Hook Line & Sinker is mixed with Pussers Rum, honey, walnut bitters, Amarena Cherry, as well as a lemon peel.

The Café-Tini is the perfect “wake up” cocktail that is every coffee lover’s dream – mixed with Grainger’s vodka, Etna Amaro, Frangelico, Kahlua, as well as cold brew coffee.

And the Toasty Toddy, an awesome beverage for the winter, is mixed with Bulleit Bourbon, organic honey, black tea, lemon peel, as well as a cinnamon stick.
