Tips for Creating an Office-Bedroom Setup

Tips for Creating an Office-Bedroom Setup

Working from home can be challenging, especially if you don’t have an office space. However, many people are modifying their bedrooms to serve as both workspaces and places to relax. To help you do this in your own home, we provide some tips for creating an office-bedroom setup.

Create Space

Since you don’t want a cluttered and crowded office, make sure there’s plenty of space between your desk area and the rest of the bedroom. For example, avoid placing your desk right next to your bed, and instead, place it across the room. If you have a small room, consider adding a sleeper sofa that will serve as both a couch and a bed. Creating space allows you to think clearly, reduce your stress, and keep your work and lounging spaces separate.

Keep Your Eyes off the Bed

If you have your desk or workspace facing your bed, it will be very tempting to go and take a quick nap during work hours. To prevent this, turn the desk either towards a wall or a window—whichever one will be the least distracting. If you can, place the desk as far away as possible from your bed, couch, and other areas of relaxation.

Match Your Style

Another tip for creating an office-bedroom setup is to match the desk, chair, file cabinets, and any other office furniture to the décor of your bedroom. By harmonizing the style, your workplace will blend in nicely with the rest of the bedroom. If the office furniture is drastically different, it will probably be an eye-sore, and you won’t enjoy your office-bedroom setup as much.

Put the Work Away

One way to make your bedroom more relaxing after work is to put away your computer, desk, and chair, if possible. After you finish your work, you can place the items in a closet or use foldable furniture to put the office equipment away so that it’s out of sight and out of mind. This is one of the best tips for creating an office-bedroom setup because it helps to separate your workspace from your leisure and rest areas.

Even though many challenges emerge from working remotely, creating an office-bedroom setup isn’t one of them. Be sure to use these tips and tricks to create an easy and practical office and bedroom space.
