Tips To Prepare Your Yard for the Summer

Tips To Prepare Your Yard for the Summer

Keeping your yard looking lush and green can sometimes be a challenge, but there are ways to get things looking great. These are the top tips that will help you prepare your yard for the summer. Get your yard looking healthy in time for the warmer months.

Use Your Sprinkler System

Using your sprinklers to water your lawn regularly is crucial for maintaining a healthy yard. Get a high-quality hose and sprinkler nozzles to ensure your irrigation system is up to speed. Water your lawn regularly to keep things looking green.

Aerate Your Yard

Aerating your yard allows vital nutrients, oxygen, and water to get to your grass’s root system. Aerate in autumn for cool-season grasses or spring for warm-season grasses. Aerate your lawn for the healthiest growing grass this season.

Have Your Lawn Fertilized

The process of having your lawn fertilized will depend on the type of grass you have. You’ll want to fertilize during early spring and again in fall. Fertilize your grass to keep it looking vibrant and fresh this season.

Keep Up With Mowing

Mowing your lawn is a normal part of maintaining it to look healthy for longer. Mow your yard regularly and adequately. Don’t cut the grass too short; this can damage the way it grows. Mow a lot in the springtime to strengthen your root system and make your grass stronger. Keep grass longer in the hottest months, so it can shade the soil.

Remove Thatch

As you mow your lawn, it can accumulate thatch, making it harder for grass to grow freely and get enough sun. Rake away excess thatch, especially in the spring and fall months. Keep excess thatch out of your yard for the healthiest grass possible.

Reseed When Needed

Spots of your lawn with high traffic may become bare or sparse throughout the season. Reseeding thin areas in your grass is one of the best ways to prepare your yard for the summer. Pay special attention to reseeding in the fall months, as it’s an excellent time for seeds to germinate properly. Till the soil in your yard’s bare spots and spread lots of seeds evenly to ensure growth.
