Types of Popular Home Staircases You Should Consider

Types of Popular Home Staircases You Should Consider

When buying or building a home, people rarely put as much consideration into their staircases as they should. Staircases are some of the largest features of a home, and they’re among the first things people notice when they walk in. This article will explore different types of popular home staircases you should consider. Hopefully, by the end of this article, you’ll have a better idea of what you should look for in a staircase.

Spiral Staircases

Ideal for compact city dwellings and beach houses, spiral staircases take up very little room and leave big impressions. Spiral staircases have central posts that connect to the radiating steps. While cynics might call them novelties, spiral staircases are classic bohemian style choices that will catch the eye of people who appreciate bold appearances.

Floating Staircases

Floating staircases have treads with no risers. The treads instead attach to the wall with invisible or minimally visible supports. If you’re designing or choosing your next home, you can consider this very cool feature. It may not be the safest choice, though, as these stairs contain no handrails. However, a floating staircase is among the most impressive and elegant of the different types of popular home staircases you should consider.

Wire Railing Staircases

A wire railing staircase is another design that shows off your modern taste. Consider this style as you shop for or build your new home. You can even build and install a wire railing staircase yourself if you so choose. This staircase offers the futuristic look of the floating staircase, but it includes a railing and near-invisible wire to improve safety.

Concrete Staircases

Some materials have an associated décor style. Concrete is a trademark look for industrial-style spaces, as well as contemporary and modern rooms. Since concrete stairs have a brutal and strong look, they complement rough décor elements and contrast well with softer ones. If you want your home to feel solid, you might consider a concrete staircase.
