Why Tile Is the Best Material for Showers

Why Tile Is the Best Material for Showers

People have used tiles in the creation of bathrooms and showers for a long time. But have you ever stopped to consider why? Maybe you’re amid some renovations and are considering another material, or maybe you’re just curious. Whatever the reason, here’s some insight on why tile is the best material for showers.

It’s Durable

The most important aspect of why tile is the best material for showers is that it’s hardy and can withstand punishment if necessary. Moreover, it isn’t permeable to water. The durability is essential for obvious reasons, as it ensures that tile lasts for a long time with minimal repairs. Meanwhile, the lack of water permeability prevents the walls from absorbing moisture. Not only would taking on moisture cause the mortar behind the tile to come undone, but it would lead to other problems within your home. An example would be mold and mildew growth.

It’s Easy to Clean

Another benefit of tile’s moisture resistance is that it’s simple to clean. Tile lacks pores that other materials may have, so it’s easy to wipe off water and other contaminating substances. While different tiles have different levels of permeability, all of them should keep spilled liquids from sinking any deeper into the surface. They should also allow you to wipe substances up quickly and easily. It doesn’t matter if you have stone, ceramic, or porcelain tiles.

It Just Looks Good

Let’s face it—tile looks great. If you think you don’t want tile for your bathroom because you don’t like the look, take a few steps back and reconsider the tile’s design. Tiles come in all forms of colors and designs. So a little creativity can go a long way to alter the atmosphere of the bathroom. You can even create a mural on a wall with tiles.
