Why Wood Fences Are the Preferred Choice

Why Wood Fences Are the Preferred Choice

Fencing is something most homeowners think about at a certain point in their lives. You may already have a fence and not like what it offers. Or maybe you have a fence that simply needs repairs. Wood fences offers multiple benefits that keep customers coming back to have them constructed. Wood fences are the preferred choice for many reasons, and they’re always solid investments when you’re adding them to your yard.

Resiliency

The type of wood you choose could make a difference in how soon you must replace your boards. However, with modern science, you can now treat wood for weathering and against most pests. This extends the life of a wood fence tenfold. Most woods are also naturally waterproof to a point, which is another bonus that increases the life span of your wooden fence.

Environmental Factor

Because wood is so widely used, reclaimed wood boards are always options if you’re looking for an inexpensive route. You can restore reclaimed wood by sanding, staining, or painting to make it like new. By doing this, you’ve created a “new” fence for yourself at a fraction of the cost of what you normally would have paid.

Plus, because wood is all natural, it’s also biodegradable, so if you ever need to take down your fence, milling or burning it will be safe for the environment. These days, most of our wood comes from farms that harvest wood specifically to prevent any more deforestation from happening, so again, wood remains environmentally friendly and ethically sound.

Value

Most people admire the aesthetic that wooden fences give. Owning a wooden fence means more than just privacy and security. It also provides a level of beauty that makes for a complete package, thus instantly increasing the value of your home. So, if you ever decide to sell your home, you’ll already have what people are looking for in a home’s exterior.

Why wood fences are the preferred choice is truly a no-brainer. If you want something that will stand the test of time, you’ll enjoy your fence for years to come so long as you remember to upkeep the materials and make sure it’s in working order. You also won’t have to stress about the environment, as you’ll be making a positive impact by reclaiming and recycling. And even if you don’t go that route, your fence will still be environmentally sound, as the wood you purchase will most likely be farmed wood.
